Abundant Content services include a variety of ways to help small, ethical businesses and non-profits navigate the world of SEO, social media, blogging, and other content-related areas (and yeah, that’s specific: I like to be passionate about what my clients are doing).
My focus is on writing and editing and is backed by a lifetime of writing and two decades of business ownership, consumer and web development experience. In today’s world, if you want your small business to support you online, it’s not enough anymore to simply have a website or post to a Facebook page. Having a savvy online presence with engaging content (and knowing how to use social media as an effective tool) makes all the difference!
Abundant Content began because, having other small businesses, I saw all the additional work involved in this realm. Coming into ethical enterprise and non-profit work with years of communications, marketing and web development skills already in hand, I discovered an additional niche – not every small business owner wants to dedicate the time to learn and implement these skills in addition to doing what it is they truly love to do, so I’m excited to offer them to other small business owners with a similar focus.
Here are some things I can do for you:
You may want an evaluation for a variety of reasons: maybe you’re wondering whether to use Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, or WordPress (or anything!). Maybe you already have a website and wonder whether it’s good enough to keep. Maybe you’re asking for a second opinion since you’re drowning in buzzwords. I’ll explain those (if necessary), evaluate your website, your social media accounts, your blog, whatever, let you know where there are areas in which you could improve and give you a prioritized list of where to begin.
Content creation and editing
This is really where my heart lives. Need some SEO-formatted blog entries written? A press release? Got something that needs proofreading or editing? Gotcha covered. I offer per-word, per-item and retainer rates. I’ve been writing online content since the days of “weblogs” and long before things like blogger and WordPress existed. I have followers who’ve been with me since then and across several social media networks (remember Friendster?). My readers and clients consistently comment on my writing as entertaining, fun, gutsy, enticing and relatable (and okay, yes, I’m aiming for “revolutionary”).
On-page search engine optimization (SEO)
I admit to a bit of Virgoan obsession here, too. Let’s get you an SEO-savvy website, “white hat” style: if your website’s been around for a while, you might want to check in and make sure your site is up to date on the latest standards (they change, frequently, and it’s up to people like me to keep up with that). Sometimes this is as easy as editing a little bit of content and adding some meta tags, sometimes it means optimizing images and decreasing a page’s load time, or analyzing your stats to see how and why people find your website and making changes to your content accordingly.
Websites can be penalized by Google and other search engines for loading slowly, having poor formatting, “dirty code” or poor content, among other things. While on-page SEO isn’t a miracle worker that is going to suddenly bring millions of people to your website, it’s important that your website is in top form so that people looking for the kinds of services you offer have a better chance of finding you, especially now that Google and Bing are able to hone in on services local to where you are.
There are other SEO services and strategies that involve ongoing analytical examination and tweaking; for most clients of the size I work with, this isn’t necessary more than once a month or so, and doesn’t actually take too long. Yes, I offer these services and strategies. If you’re to the point where you need this, we’ll discuss it.
Stay trusty and check your sources for truth and usability: Abundant Content offers fact checking and media research so your content stays clean. No “alternative facts” or copyright infringements here!
I am happy to help you maintain your website with updates, copy and page creation and edits, and have a special fondness for WordPress and Wix. I work closely, too, with some really amazing graphic designers and illustrators, photographers and videographers who can assist you with more detailed design needs.
Email list/newsletter management
I can help you manage your emails and newsletters, create templates and campaigns and assist you with growing your subscriber base. My preference is Mailchimp.
Social media assistance & advice
Need to set up your Facebook page, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or other social media profiles? Want your current ones edited? Thinking about a Facebook ad? Need to grow your following or expand your reach in your social media accounts? I can help you target the best platforms, develop a social media strategy and streamline the posting process. I am phasing out of actually managing social media campaigns for most of my clients, but I’m happy to help you get set up and advise you on best practices.
Give me a call. I’ll hold your hand and give you a boost. As with most things, I’m available per-project or by monthly retainer.
Everything I do is specific to each project, meaning it’s all dependent on talking it over with you, figuring out exactly what it is you need, and then determining how much time it’s going to take me to get those things going or seen through to completion. There are several years of research and project management experience behind my quoting process, so get in touch and let’s start talking about how I can help you do your thing.
